The zip line

For any of you who know me well you'll know that I'm scared of heights and get motion sick on a swing :)  I went to a women's retreat with my church this weekend.  Terrifying in itself because I didn't know anyone.  On Saturday morning we had an amazing time of worship in the morning and as I was praying Jesus told me to go on the zip line because he had something to tell me.  My first thought was "can't you tell me right here:)"  That afternoon we had free time and the zip line was open.  So along with a new friend I trudged up the mountain to the zip line feeling extremely sick to my stomach.  I stood and watched for awhile (probably not the best idea) then got in line to get on my harness.  I stood in line asking God "are you really sure you want me to do this?"  My turn came up so up the tree I climbed, 40ft up on little staple looking things for handholds and footholds Ahhhhhhhhhhh!  My heart was beating like crazy and I thought my knees were going to collapse but  I sure wasn't going back down the tree.  I climbed onto the LITTLE platform  and stood as close to the tree as possible while the guy hooked me up to the line.  I had know idea what to do some people had jumped but I wasn't going to do that :)  He told me to just sit and let go (like it was the easiest thing in the world)  I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, sat down, and let go.  Oh and screamed!  Right about the middle of the 8000ft zip line the terror lifted and there was a moment of complete peace, freedom, and silence.  In the middle of that Jesus told me "This is what I want for you, you just have to jump"  The passion of that broke me.  John 10:10 "The thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."  God wants me to have a full life.  Not necessarily one that is free from worry but one of complete reliance on him.  When I finally step through the terror of not being in control,  step into complete faith and let go of the tree he rewards that with peace, contentment and provision.  What an amazing God!
